Zurab Pataradze Meets with Ajara Highlands Residents and Inspects Infrastructure Projects

Zurab Pataradze, Chairman of the Government of Ajara, held meetings with residents of Upper Ajara and inspected infrastructure projects in the highlands, including the ongoing rehabilitation works on the Zomleti-Khikhadziri road section.

Tsotne Ananidze, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Ajara; Anzor Bolkvadze, Member of the Parliament of Georgia; and representatives of the Government and the Supreme Council of Ajara also attended the site visits and meetings.

According to Zurab Pataradze, improving the well-being of people living in mountainous areas, enhancing living conditions, developing infrastructure, and strengthening tourism potential remain among the Government’s key priorities. He noted that these efforts will contribute to economic development and create new opportunities for local residents.

The Ministry of Infrastructure of Georgia is financing the rehabilitation of a 7-kilometer section of the Zomleti-Khikhadziri road. The project includes rehabilitation of the road surface and construction of an asphalt-concrete pavement. The road will also be equipped with modern road safety infrastructure, ensuring safer and more comfortable travel.

Zurab Pataradze held meetings with residents in several locations, including Goderdzi Resort, Khikhadziri, and Skhalta gorges. The Chairman was briefed on the needs and challenges of local communities, as well as their initiatives and proposals.

At the end of the meetings, the Chairman paid tribute to the memory of those who lost their lives in the landslide tragedy in the village of Tsablana in 1989.
