Zurab Pataradze Attends Traditional "Shuamtoba" Festival on Mount Chirukhi

The traditional public festival "Shuamtoba" was celebrated on Mount Chirukhi in the Shuakhevi Municipality. 

Zurab Pataradze, Chairman of the Government of Ajara, congratulated locals and visitors on the occasion. He was joined by Omar Takidze, Mayor of Shuakhevi Municipality; Anzor Bolkvadze and Fridon Putkaradze, Majoritarian Deputies of the Parliament of Georgia and the Supreme Council of Ajara; and Iago Davitadze, Chairman of the Shuakhevi Municipality City Cuncil.

During his address, the Chairman highlighted the centuries-old mountain traditions and emphasized the importance of passing them down to future generations. He also stressed the necessity of strengthening mountainous Ajara, noting that the government remains committed to upgrading infrastructure and launching new regional development projects.

"Mount Chirukhi and our highland communities must be strengthened. We promise to dedicate maximum attention to mountainous Ajara and all six of its municipalities. We are already seeing the success of ongoing projects, which will continue alongside the implementation of new initiatives," stated the Chairman.

He added that the government's top priorities are ensuring decent living conditions for mountain residents, supporting the youth, and further empowering the region.

As part of his visit, the Chairman inspected the zipline infrastructure on Mount Chirukhi, a project designed to boost local tourism and offer new experiences for visitors.

This year's "Shuamtoba" featured a diverse lineup of cultural, sports, and entertainment activities. The event space included dedicated children's and sports areas, food zones, a handicraft exhibition and market, custom installations, photo booths, summer attractions, and festive decorations.

The celebration continued with a concert featuring local folklore ensembles, as well as guest bands and performers. Alongside the musical program, attendees enjoyed traditional sports competitions, including arm wrestling, Georgian wrestling, and tug-of-war, with winners receiving special prizes and certificates.The festival was attended by representatives of the legislative and executive branches, members of the clergy, heads of regional higher education institutions, and local administration officials.
