Zurab Pataradze: A new chapter in Ajara's future is being written today – New Public School No. 21 opens in Batumi

Batumi Welcomes Brand New Public School No. 21 and Fully Renovated Public Schools No. 4 and No. 5 for the New Academic Year.

A new Public School No. 21 has officially opened its doors in Batumi, while Public Schools No. 4 and No. 5 welcomed students for the new academic year with completely modernized infrastructure.

The opening ceremony of Public School No. 21 was attended by the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, alongside the Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Ajara, Zurab Pataradze, the Minister of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia, Givi Mikanadze, and the Minister of Education, Culture, and Sport of Ajara, Maia Khajishvili, who congratulated the faculty and students on this milestone.

During his address, the Chairman of the Government of Ajara emphasized that the development of educational infrastructure across the region is progressing at an unprecedented pace. He noted that four new schools have been completed in Ajara this year, with plans underway to construct an additional seven next year.

"This is an exceptionally momentous day for our city and region, marking the beginning of a new chapter in our history. One of our government’s foremost priorities is the construction, rehabilitation, and continuous advancement of educational infrastructure. Long-term investment in the next generation is the ultimate foundation for the success of both our region and our nation. We have kicked off this academic year in Ajara with four brand new schools, and seven more will be added next year. This steady momentum underscores our dedication to enhancing the quality of education and caring for our children. I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to our educators, teachers, school principals, and everyone who works tirelessly for our youth every single day. The Government of Georgia remains fully committed to ensuring dignified working conditions for our staff and providing a bright, safe, and growth-oriented environment for our children," stated Zurab Pataradze.

Government officials toured the newly constructed facility, which is fully accessible and built to contemporary international standards to accommodate 1,400 students. The state-of-the-art building features advanced sports and assembly halls, a library, multi-purpose functional spaces, and an outdoor sports court. The total investment for the construction and equipping of the school amounts to 8,500,000 GEL.

On the same day, the Prime Minister of Georgia and the Chairman of the Government of Ajara accompanied by the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Revaz Sokhadze, and the Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Ajara, Tsotne Ananidze, inspected the newly rehabilitated infrastructure of Batumi Public Schools No. 4 and No. 5. The extensive renovation project was executed by the Municipal Development Fund (MDF), co-financed by the Government of Georgia and the World Bank.

The comprehensive structural overhaul fully modernized the schools' infrastructure, creating indoor and outdoor learning environments, classrooms, sports fields, and schoolyards that align with modern educational standards. Furthermore, both facilities are meticulously adapted to meet the requirements of students with special educational needs (SEN).
