The longest two-lane zipline in Europe opens in Ajara
The Chairman of the Government of Ajara, Sulkhan Tamazashvili, officially opened the longest two-lane zipline in Europe on Mount Chirukhi.
Sulkhan Tamazashvili congratulated the population on the Shuamtoba holiday and noted that various ambitious projects will continue to be actively implemented in Ajara, which will further contribute to rapid economic growth.
‘This year, we are celebrating the Shuamtoba holiday in Shuakhevi Municipality with a special novelty. The longest two-lane zipline in Europe was built on Mount Chirukhi, which we officially opened today. Each stage of the zipline construction was carried out in full compliance with international standards. An Italian company was involved in the process. The total cost of the project amounted to 9 million GEL.
The Chirukhi Zipline is a distinctive new tourist infrastructure in mountainous Ajara, which, on the one hand, will contribute to increasing the tourist potential, and on the other hand, will positively affect the socio-economic situation of the population.
‘The Ajara region will actively continue to implement ambitious projects in various directions, which will further contribute to rapid economic growth,’ said Sulkhan Tamazashvili.
The length of the zipline is 1,789 meters. Installation works, technical operation and safety monitoring were carried out by an Italian company with many years of experience in this field.
The development of tourism infrastructure in mountainous Ajara is one of the important components of the four-season tourism strategy. Mount Chirukhi is connected to the tourist routes of the Khulo municipality and the Goderdzi resort, where tourist trails have already been arranged. Accordingly, the new zipline creates a single chain of tourist products between the two municipalities.
