The Chairman of the Government of Ajara inspects completed rehabilitation works on Gogebashvili street

Rehabilitation of Gogebashvili street roadway has been completed and traffic has been fully restored on both sides of the street.  

Zurab Pataradze, the chairman of the Government of Ajara inspected the current project and implemented works.  

Giorgi Tsintsadze, the Mayor of Batumi; Ivane Maisuradze, the Chairman of the Batumi Municipality City Council and representatives of the Government of Ajara, Batumi City Hall and the city council attended the site visit.

According to Zurab Pataradze, the section of Rustaveli and Gogebashvili streets is one of the main transport arteries in Batumi, renovation of which will make traffic more comfortable and safe both for local residents and tourists.

Rehabilitation works on Gogebashvili street are coming to an end. Traffic has been fully restored today. Implementation of this important project will allow visitors and residents of Batumi to move freely in the central part of the city.

Substitution of old, damaged tiles is actively underway in different locations of Batumi. Works are in progress in the direction of airport too. Traffic has also been fully restored on Bartskhana bridge. All municipalities of Ajara as well as the road department will continue improving road infrastructure in the future in order to enable safe and comfortable traffic in our region’ – Zurab Pataradze said.  

The large-scale rehabilitation project of Rustaveli and Gogebashvili streets has been astimated to 22 million Gel. 

On Gogebashvili Street, like Rustaveli Street, three layers of asphalt were laid instead of the existing paving stones, underground utilities were renewed, part of the sidewalks and curbs were rehabilitated, and work on the remaining sections will be completed before the start of the tourist season.

In parallel, the Batumi Municipality continues the project to replace the paving stones with asphalt. This year, work has already been carried out on 9 streets and sections. Currently, rehabilitation is underway on Khinikadze and Lermontov streets, and 7 more streets and sections are planned to be renovated in the near future. New infrastructure will significantly improve a traffic flow capacity, comfort an safety.
