The Chairman of the Government of Ajara attends the traditional public holiday Maretoba in Shuakhevi

The Chairman of the Government of Ajara, Zurab Pataradze, together with the Chairman of the Supreme Council of Ajara, Tsotne Ananidze, attended the traditional public holiday Maretoba held in Shuakhevi. The Mayor of Shuakhevi Municipality, Omar Takidze, opened the event and thanked the guests for their participation and involvement in the public celebration.

Zurab Pataradze congratulated the local population on the holiday of Maretoba and St. George’s day. In his speech, the Chairman of the Government emphasized the importance of public holidays and noted that maintaining a continuous connection between generations, as well as the development of the mountain, is one of the main priorities of the government.

'From the Mareti Gorge to the entire region, Ajara, Georgia, I'd want to wish you a happy St. George's Day and public holiday, Maretoba. As we can see, there is a large gathering, with elderly and young people continuing the fantastic tradition that began around 20 years ago. Today, we understand how vital it is to celebrate public holidays, to unite the people, to maintain a continual connection between the past and the future, and, of course, to grow our mountain. I am pleased that we can enjoy and congratulate you on this holiday,’ said the Chairman of the Government.

The event included the awarding of Honorary Maret residents and outstanding students, as well as cultural and sports activities, including an exhibition of photographs depicting local culture and the history of the Maret Valley.

Today, government representatives laid flowers at the Memorial of Heroes who died for the unity of Georgia.

Members of the Parliament of Georgia, the Government of Ajara, the Supreme Council, and representatives of local self-government also attended the event.
