The 101st anniversary of Fridon Khalvashi marked in Batumi
The Chairman of the Government of Ajara, Zurab Pataradze, together with the Chairman of the Supreme Council of Ajara, Tsotne Ananidze, paid tribute to the memory of the famous writer and public figure Fridon Khalvashi and decorated the grave with flowers.
Zurab Pataradze, along with the assembled audience, recalled Fridon Khalvashi's many years of creative and public engagement, emphasising his unique contribution to the development of Georgian poetry and literature.
‘Fridon Khalvashi was a person who understood the heartbeat of our region best. He was a supporter and defender of every person. Fridon made the voice of our region heard throughout Georgia and beyond. His contribution, hard work and special love for people are invaluable.
When we talk about the great Fridon Khalvashi, we must definitely remember his son Zaza Khalvashi, who would have turned 69 today. The Khalvashi family left a special mark on Georgian culture and public life.
It is our duty to remember and pass on their contributions and creativity to future generations,’ the Chairman of the Government noted.
Fridon Khalvashi wrote over 30 poetry and prose books and received various awards and prizes.
Along with the Chairman of the Government, representatives from Ajara's legislative and executive authorities, writers, poets, friends, and family members of Fridon Khalvashi paid tribute to the writer's memory.
