Sulkhan Tamazashvili meets with Seafarers and Representatives of the maritime sector

Sulkhan Tamazashvili, Chairman of the Government of Ajara, met with maritime industry representatives and sailors.

Sulkhan Tamazashvili stated that the expansion of the maritime industry will benefit the economic development of both the region and the country, and that each sailor will have his full support.

During the meeting, Ivane Abashidze, Director of the Georgian Maritime Transport Agency, presented the draft amendments to the Law On Education and Certification of Seafarers to maritime industry leaders. He also highlighted concerns linked to seafarer certification and working conditions, which will help to produce qualified individuals, defend labour rights, and create a safe work environment.

The meeting was attended by Giorgi Tsintsadze, Acting Mayor of Batumi, as well as officials from the Georgian Parliament and the Ajara Government.
