Sulkhan Tamazashvili, Chairman of the Government of Ajara, met with exceptional students from across the region. On the initiative of the Chairman of the Government, 150 students with outstanding academic records were awarded scholarships.
During the discussion with the kids, Sulkhan Tamazashvili reviewed the planned educational reforms and the necessity of acquiring a great education. According to the Chairman of the Government, the number of scholarship beneficiaries would grow starting next year. In addition, the Tariel Putkaradze and STEM (Technical and Natural Sciences) scholarships will doubled.
‘Today, you are young individuals who excel at their education, labour, and determination. A state scholarship is more than just a prize; it is recognition of your knowledge and a motivation to pursue even higher ambitions. I have frequently stated and will reiterate that it is critical for us to improve the educational sphere and create conditions in which each of you may obtain quality knowledge and develop professional skills in a setting that matches modern standards. This is precisely the purpose served by the state's educational policy and supporting initiatives, which we are currently executing and will continue to implement in the future. I am confident that everyone of you will play an important role in the development of our country’, Sulkhan Tamazashvili said.
Within the framework of the meeting, the Minister of Education and Sports of Ajara, Maia Khajishvili, addressed the students. The Minister spoke about the innovations and programs planned for the coming year.
