Sulkhan Tamazashvili Meets with Delegation from Zhaoqing, China

Sulkhan Tamazashvili, Chairman of the Government of Ajara, met with members of a delegation from the city of Zhaoqing, People’s Republic of China.

During the meeting, it was noted that the Autonomous Republic of Ajara maintains strong and friendly relations with municipalities in China, as well as with educational and cultural institutions.

It was also highlighted that Kobuleti Municipality and the city of Zhaoqing are set to sign a cooperation agreement.

Cooperation between the People’s Republic of China and Ajara dates back to the late 19th century, when Lao Jin Jao arrived in the region and introduced tea cultivation. Construction of Lao Jin Jao’s house museum in Chakvi is currently underway.

The sides also expressed their readiness to further expand and deepen cooperation.
