Sulkhan Tamazashvili Meets with Citrus Farmers

Sulkhan Tamazashvili, Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Ajara, together with Denis Salukvadze, Minister of Agriculture of Ajara, met with citrus farmers.

The meeting focused on organizational aspects of the citrus season, including measures to ensure the supply of high-quality, competitive products to export markets.

According to Sulkhan Tamazashvili, all necessary resources have been mobilized to ensure that the citrus sales process proceeds smoothly and that the agricultural sector remains profitable for farmers.

Given the quality of the citrus harvest, the season is expected to be particularly successful. This year, Ajara is projected to harvest more than 60,000 tonnes of citrus, approximately 30% more than last year.

The Government of Ajara is implementing a subsidy programme for substandard citrus to support the uninterrupted conduct of the season. The Citrus Coordination Headquarters monitors sales, processing, and logistics operations on a daily basis.
