Sulkhan Tamazashvili meets with business representatives

The Chairman of the Government of Ajara, Sulkhan Tamazashvili, met with business representatives. The meeting was attended by local businessmen and members of a delegation of leading development and investment companies from the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

Sulkhan Tamazashvili addressed the business representatives, stating that in times of stability and continuous peace, correctly designed policies have resulted in significant economic development in the region.

Business representatives play an important role in strengthening and developing our country’s economy. Your activities create jobs, new opportunities and strengthen Georgia in both the regional and global economic space.

The Georgian Dream government has led to exceptional economic growth in the Autonomous Republic of Ajara. In recent years, under conditions of stability and continuous peace, a well-planned policy has resulted in rapid economic development in the region, as evidenced by an analysis of the GDP indicator in Ajara, which has increased by 208% since 2012 and now totals eight billion GEL. I am convinced that with our combined efforts, we will continue the growth of the area and country. Also, collectively, we will fulfil one of mine and my team's key goals: boosting the tourism potential of the Ajara region in all four seasons,’ said Sulkhan Tamazashvili.

At the meeting, Ednar Nataridze, Minister of Finance and Economy of Ajara, presented the vision of the region's economic development and introduced the guests to the investment and tourism opportunities of Ajara. The focus was on ongoing and planned projects, as well as economic trends in the region.

Over the past two years, Ajara has been visited by approximately 5 million visitors annually. In the second quarter of 2025 alone, the turnover of the region’s business sector increased by 8%, production output by 11%, employment by 10%, and average wages by 9%. The real estate market also maintained its growth trend, exceeding the previous year’s figure by 23%.

Along with business representatives, the presentation of Ajara’s economic vision was attended by the Chairman of the Supreme Council, Davit Gabaidze, representatives of the Parliament of Georgia, the Government of Ajara, and the Acting Mayor of Batumi.
