Rehabilitated section of Rustaveli Street opens for traffic in Batumi

The reconstruction of a substantial stretch of Rustaveli Street in Batumi is complete, and traffic has been resumed from Demetre Tavdadebuli Street to Melikishvili Street. Sulkhan Tamazashvili, Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Ajara, and Giorgi Murvanidze, Acting Mayor of Batumi, officially opened Rustaveli Street.

Rustaveli Street was totally rebuilt, with the cobblestone pavement replaced with asphalt, underground communications replaced, sidewalks, curbs, and an outdoor lighting system restored. 

The second stage of the project will be the restoration of Gogebashvili Street from Chavchavadze Street to Demetre Tavdadebuli Street, which will commence when the tourist season concludes.
