Regional Science Festival 2026 Officially Opens at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University

The "Regional Science Festival - 2026" officially commenced at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University (BSU). The opening ceremony was attended by the Chairman of the Government of Ajara, Zurab Pataradze, alongside Georgia's Minister of Education, Science, and Youth, Givi Mikanadze.

The high-profile event also brought together Tsotne Ananidze, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Ajara; Zviad Gabisonia, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia; Maia Khajishvili, Minister of Education, Culture, and Sport of Ajara; as well as other prominent representatives from the Government of Ajara, the Supreme Council, and invited dignitaries.

Tite Aroshidze, Rector of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, guided Zurab Pataradze and Givi Mikanadze through the festival's vibrant exhibition area. The festival features a wide array of engaging activities, including interactive scientific experiments, cutting-edge technology and innovation presentations, thematic meetings, and specialized CERN STEM masterclasses designed for school students.

Centering on the core message, "Science for the Development of Georgia's Regions," the 2026 festival establishes a unified, interactive platform for science, education, and innovation. It successfully bridges the gap between scientists, researchers, university and school students, academic institutions, and research organizations.

This nationwide project is organized through the initiative and comprehensive financial support of the Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia.
