New Recreational Space opened in Batumi
The Chairman of the Government of Ajara, Sulkhan Tamazashvili, opened a new 20,000 square meter recreational space in Batumi.
The Chairman of the Government toured the new space together with Giorgi Ramishvili, the founder of the Silk Road Group.
Sulkhan Tamazashvili noted that such spaces have a positive impact on the well-being of citizens, the establishment and popularization of a healthy lifestyle.
'I'm delighted Batumi has a new recreational space. Leading worldwide designers devised the park's distinctive concept. Such areas not only improve the city, but they also have a direct impact on inhabitants' well-being, promoting and popularizing a healthy lifestyle, which is one of our top concerns. It is critical to build leisure and sports-friendly spaces as part of the region's development strategy. I am convinced that this space will become one of the distinguishing features of our city, not only for Batumi inhabitants, but also for vacationers and tourists.,’- the Chairman of the Government said.
The Silk Road Group built the park. Masu Planning, a leading international company, collaborated on the project's design and idea. The new leisure area is organically connected to Batumi Boulevard. The original trees were conserved, and the project included the planting of over 600 trees of over 200 local and foreign species, as well as approximately 63,000 shrubs and blooming plants. The project contains paddle courts, a football pitch, entertainment and recreation areas and walking and cycling trails. A diversified infrastructure will allow Batumi inhabitants to participate in outdoor sports and enjoy superior recreation.
‘This park is a gift to the Batumi inhabitants. The park's landscaping design will continue on the Silk Towers grounds. There will be a natural connection between the boulevard and port promenade. A single pedestrian space will be constructed, allowing people to circulate freely. The yacht club's construction will be completed by the end of the year. The park is the first stage and an essential component of our huge project, ‘Silk Towers,’ on which the renowned Japanese architect Kengo Kuma and his group are working. We are convinced that this large-scale project will add further charm to the city and serve as Batumi's calling card.,’ said Giorgi Ramishvili, founder of the “Silk Road Group.”
The new recreational space, together with the Chairman of the Government, was visited by the Chairman of the Supreme Council of Ajara Davit Gabaidze; the Acting Mayor of Batumi Giorgi Tsintsadze; members of the Parliament of Georgia, the Government of Ajara and the Supreme Council.
