International Day of the Seafarer Marked in Batumi

An event dedicated to the International Day of the Seafarer was held in Batumi.

Mikheil Kavelashvili, President of Georgia; Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister of Georgia; Mariam Kvrivishvili, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia; Zurab Pataradze, Chairman of the Government of Ajara; and Ivane Abashidze, Director of the Maritime Transport Agency, congratulated Georgian seafarers on this important day.

The Chairman of the Government of Ajara noted that strengthening the maritime sector in the region is based on supporting maritime education and developing modern infrastructure that meets international standards.

The President of Georgia awarded Medals of Honor to representatives of the maritime sector for their significant contribution to state development and distinguished service.

The Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Ajara, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, and the Director of the Maritime Transport Agency awarded distinguished seafarers for their outstanding contribution to the development of the maritime sector and years of dedicated professional service.
