Government Session of the Autonomous Republic of Ajara

Zurab Pataradze, Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Ajara, chaired a government session.

The charman focused on several important issues including development of highlands of Ajara, ongoing and planned projects and noted that Ajara with all its resources and diverse tourist potential is one of the most important links in the chain of the country’s development.  

The Chairman reviewed infrastructural projects in Danisparauli, black and green lake areas, Ghorjomi and Goderdzi resort. It was emphasized that creating new tourist routes, roads infrastructure, construction of the road leading the resort Goderdzi and other works will further strengthen the tourist potential of the resort. 

Zurab Pataradze presented several new initiatives to the society including the project of construction new cableways to the resort Goderdzi and Khulo-Tago; Feasibility study for the development of aerial public transport in Batumi; and conducting traffic flow studies in accordance with international standards. The chairman also emphasized the Khulo Alpine Botanical garden’s development plan. The project envisions the creation of new tourist attractions, parking spaces, lakefront improvements, infrastructure upgrades, and the capacity to host international scientific conferences. 

‘Success of the mountain in the strength of all municipalities and the public holiday Shuamtoba represents the unique character of our region, the symbol of labor, unity, sincerity and development’ – Zurab Pataradze said.  

Development of the educational infrastructure remains one of the government’s key priorities. Construction of new schools and kindergartens are actively underway. In particular, three kindergartens will be completed this year in Batumi. Gonio settlement will have absolutely new kindergarten and stadium will be reconstrated. The Chairman also talked about the upcoming international day of youth and promoting non-formal education. 

As for healthcare direction, the chairman reviewed the Morbidity Research Program of people living in mouintains that envisages 7 mountains and 11 villages. Zurab Pataradze also discussed the social projects at the session.

The chairman also talked about the cultural event ‘Melodies of Gonio’ and noted that this kind of cultutal events promote development of cultural tourism and contributes to the region’s popularization.

The chairman also addressed the issues connected to the agriculture development. Emphasis was placed on supporting farmers and strengthening the technical capacity of the Forestry Agency.
