Construction of New Public School No. 21 in Batumi Nearing Completion

Construction of Public School No. 21 in Batumi is nearing completion. Zurab Pataradze, Chairman of the Government of Ajara, together with Maia Khajishvili, Minister of Education and Sports of Ajara, inspected the ongoing works on site.

The school, which meets modern educational standards, is located in the central part of the city and is designed to accommodate 1,400 students.

According to Zurab Pataradze, the development of educational infrastructure is part of the Government’s large-scale investment in education and aims to create a safe, modern, and high-quality learning environment.

‘We are actively preparing for the new academic year. Educational infrastructure projects are progressing at an intensive pace across Batumi. By the start of the new academic year, the city will have two newly built schools and two fully rehabilitated educational institutions.

Today, we inspected Public School No. 21, a fully adapted educational facility that meets modern standards and includes indoor and outdoor sports facilities, laboratories, a library, and multifunctional learning spaces. The project is valued at GEL 7.5 million and is designed for 1,400 students.

It should be emphasized that the construction of schools and the development of educational infrastructure remain among the key priorities of both the country and the region,’ said Zurab Pataradze.

At this stage, the majority of construction works have been completed. Landscaping of the school grounds is underway, while the building is being equipped with furniture and educational equipment. At the same time, the authorization process and teacher recruitment are in progress to ensure the school is ready to welcome students for the new academic year.

The expansion of educational infrastructure remains one of the Government’s key priorities. Between 2026 and 2028, 30 new public schools will be built across the region, while 70 schools will undergo rehabilitation. This year alone, the Ministry of Education and Sports of Ajara is financing the construction of 25 schools and the rehabilitation of more than 50 educational institutions.

Representatives of the Government of Ajara, the Mayor of Batumi, and the Chairman of Batumi City Council also attended the site visit.
