Children's Folklore Ensemble Olympiad in Singing and Dancing held

The final stage of the Children's Folklore Ensemble Olympiad in Singing and Dancing, a concert of the winning ensembles and an award ceremony was held at the Batumi State Music Center. The Olympiad is organized by the Ministry of Culture of Ajara.

Zurab Pataradze, the chairman of the Government of Ajara along with Tsotne Ananidze, the chairman of the Supreme Council of Ajara; members of the parliament of Georgia, and the government of Ajara attended the final event.

Zurab Pataradze noted in his welcoming speech that this kind of projects contribute to the preservation of Georgian culture, folklore traditions and their transmission to future generations.

The Chairman of the Government presented the highest award - the Grand Prix - to the Anzor Erkomaishvili Shuakhevi Choirmaster School and its director - Eter Darchidze. As part of the event, the ensembles were awarded that won the Grand Prix, first, second and third prizes.

Over 30 folklore ensembles and more than 800 solo performers participated in the Olympiad.

The Olympiad is held as part of the program ‘Popularization and Promotion of Folklore’ and aims to popularize Georgian folk song and dance; deepen interest in traditional art among the younger generation, and identify talented performers.
