Chairman of the Government of Ajara Zurab Pataradze meets with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Georgia, Faig Guliyev

Chairman of the Government of Ajara Zurab Pataradze met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Georgia, Faig Guliyev, and the Consul General of Azerbaijan in Batumi, Fuad Azizov.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the possibility of enhancing Georgia and Azerbaijan's current bilateral partnership relations. Zurab Pataradze stated that after many years of serving as Georgia's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Azerbaijan, it is symbolic for him to attend his first diplomatic meeting with Azerbaijani representatives in his new position.

‘A very fruitful meeting was conducted. We were given the opportunity to address all of the current topics on the agenda. As you are aware, bilateral political and economic connections between Georgia and Azerbaijan are rapidly increasing. This is supported by the increasing trade turnover; last year, bilateral commerce surpassed 300 billion. A significant concern is the rational management of visitor traffic. Two flights per week are conducted between Baku and Batumi, with daily service beginning in June. We are aiming to make this process as convenient as possible all year and suited to the interests of our citizens.

I think that our involvement, discussion of important issues, business promotion and holding business forums will contribute to the growth of trade turnover between Georgia and Azerbaijan and the attraction of investments,’ said Zurab Pataradze.

During the meeting, the Chairman of the Government introduced the guests to the four seasons of Ajara's tourism potential. According to Zurab Pataradze, the region is ready to actively organise bilateral business forums and large-scale events that will help to strengthen commercial relationships and build new partnerships.

The meeting was attended by the Mayor of Batumi, Giorgi Tsintsadze.
