Chairman of the Government of Ajara Meets with the Ambassador of Japan to Georgia, Ishizuka Hideki

The Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Ajara, Zurab Pataradze, held a bilateral meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Georgia, His Excellency Ishizuka Hideki.

During the meeting, the sides reviewed the robust bilateral relations between Georgia and Japan, exploring strategic avenues to further deepen future cooperation. Discussions focused on strengthening political dialogue, expanding trade and economic ties, and identifying new opportunities for attracting foreign direct investment to the region.

Chairman Zurab Pataradze expressed his sincere gratitude to the Japanese government for its steadfast support of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also highlighted the significant impact of developmental projects implemented across Ajara with the support of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The dialogue further addressed upcoming initiatives in the tourism sector. Notably, the Department of Tourism and Resorts of Ajara maintains an active international presence by participating annually in the "JATA Tourism Expo Japan" held in Tokyo. In a demonstration of these close cultural ties, the "Japanese Culture Festival" is taking place today on Batumi Boulevard. Organized with the support of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport of Ajara, and in collaboration with Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University and Japanese partners, the festival aims to deepen intercultural exchange, strengthen the bonds of friendship between the two nations, and introduce Japanese traditions to the local public.

In closing, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to intensifying high-level bilateral visits, which will serve to further solidify the partnership between the two regions.
