Chairman of the Government of Ajara Meets with Healthcare Sector Leaders to Discuss Regional Upgrades and Tourism Readiness

The Chairman of the Government of Ajara, Zurab Pataradze, alongside the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Nino Nizharadze, held a working meeting with prominent representatives and institutional heads of the region’s medical and healthcare sectors. 

The discussion centered on key priorities within the healthcare system, the implementation progress of ongoing state programs, current systemic challenges, and strategic measures aimed at capacity-building and service optimization.During the meeting, the Chairman emphasized that maintaining a stable healthcare environment and providing top-tier medical services to both local residents and visiting tourists is of paramount importance during the peak holiday season.

"We engaged in a highly productive dialogue with clinic directors and medical professionals to address current challenges and map out our future initiatives," stated Chairman Zurab Pataradze. "Given the massive influx of tourists, ensuring the delivery of timely, high-quality medical care is an absolute priority. The dynamically increasing budget of the Ministry of Health of Ajara translates directly into expanded program coverage and more comprehensive opportunities for our citizens.

Furthermore, the modernization of our medical infrastructure is moving forward swiftly. The construction of three major medical institutions in the region is nearing completion. It remains vital for us to actively engage medical professionals and integrate their expert opinions and recommendations. This collaborative approach ensures that our healthcare programs evolve in direct alignment with the actual needs of the public."

The interactive session allowed medical sector representatives to present their insights, feedback, and strategic recommendations for addressing systemic needs. Health officials noted that in light of the active tourist season, the Public Health Center is continuously monitoring and managing the epidemiological situation across Ajara to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.

Significant attention was also dedicated to the region's expanding healthcare and social infrastructure. The construction of the N1 Polyclinic, an emergency medical center, and a multifunctional pediatric clinic is entering its final stages near the Batumi Republican Hospital. Additionally, plans are underway for the construction of a new, state-of-the-art facility for the Regional Center for Infectious Diseases, AIDS, and Tuberculosis.

Beyond healthcare, the meeting highlighted ongoing social welfare initiatives, specifically the continuous construction of social housing projects both in Batumi and across various regional municipalities.

According to Chairman Pataradze, the core objective of the government's social policy extends beyond merely providing shelter; it aims to foster full-fledged, dignified, and sustainable living environments for families in need.The working session was attended by Rusudan Shavishvili, Director of the Public Health Center, senior officials from the Government of Ajara and the Ministry of Health, as well as leadership teams from key regional medical institutions, including the Infectious Diseases Hospital, the Republican Hospital, and the N1 Polyclinic.
