Chairman of the Government of Ajara Inspects Infrastructure Projects in Shuakhevi Municipality
The Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Ajara, Zurab Pataradze, conducted an inspection of ongoing infrastructure developments in Shuakhevi Municipality, specifically visiting the villages of Khichauri and Gomarduli.
According to the Chairman, these targeted initiatives in mountainous Ajara will significantly elevate local living conditions and boost the region's tourism potential.
"Today, we inspected vital infrastructure projects across mountainous Ajara. The administrative center in Khichauri is currently undergoing major upgrades to its road and municipal infrastructure. We also visited Gomarduli, a locality with immense tourism and alpine skiing potential. New cottages are under construction here, tourist infrastructure is expanding, and private sector interest is steadily rising. Furthermore, new projects are moving forward along the Khichauri, Chvani, and Gomi routes, including the construction of a 6.5-kilometer road," stated Zurab Pataradze.
In the village of Khichauri, active revitalization of the administrative center is underway. The project encompasses the rehabilitation of residential courtyards and public squares, laying asphalt-concrete pavement, building retaining walls, installing decorative lighting, and upgrading underground communications.
Concurrently, construction of a modern administrative building has been completed in Gomarduli. The facility will house the local administrative office, a medical clinic, and a multifunctional hall. Built to be fully accessible for people with disabilities, the project also includes extensive landscaping of the surrounding area, featuring recreational and children's zones, walking paths, a dedicated bonfire area, outdoor lighting, and green spaces.
The Chairman was joined during the site inspections by Ednar Nataridze, Minister of Finance and Economy of Ajara; Anzor Bolkvadze, Member of the Parliament of Georgia; Fridon Putkaradze, Member of the Supreme Council of Ajara; Omar Takidze, Mayor of Shuakhevi; Zaza Shavadze, Head of the Ajara Roads Department; and various local government representatives.
