Chairman of the Government of Ajara Honors Defenders of the Homeland on Veterans' Day

As part of the events commemorating Veterans' Day, the Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Ajara, Zurab Pataradze, accompanied by cabinet members, held a meeting with local veterans residing in the region.

Chairman Pataradze expressed his profound gratitude to the veterans for their dedicated service to the nation, emphasizing that ensuring dignified living conditions and implementing targeted support programs remain top priorities for the regional government.

"I extend my heartfelt congratulations to our esteemed and honorable veterans, those who have selflessly dedicated their lives to the service of our homeland on this symbolic day," stated the Chairman. "The peace and stability of our country are of paramount importance, and the strength of a state is truly measured by how it treats the defenders of its nation. Therefore, safeguarding the well-being of our veterans and duly honoring their contributions and heroism is our utmost priority."

The Chairman further noted that the Ajara region is home to more than 4,000 registered veterans, whose courage, resilience, and patriotism serve as a guiding example for future generations. He also underscored the vital role of societal unity on the path toward building a strong Georgia and achieving the peaceful restoration of the country's territorial integrity.

The celebrations, hosted at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, featured various sports competitions bringing together veterans and university students. The event culminated in an official ceremony where the winners were awarded.

Veterans' Day is observed annually in Georgia on October 17. The designated events seek to recognize the invaluable contributions of veterans to the defense of the nation's freedom and territorial integrity, honor the memory of the fallen heroes, and strengthen intergenerational bonds.
