Chairman of the Government of Ajara Holds High-Level Meeting with UNDP Resident Representative

The Chairman of the Government of Ajara, Zurab Pataradze, hosted Douglas Webb, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative in Georgia, at the Ajara Government Office to discuss strategic cooperation and ongoing regional initiatives.

 

The meeting focused on reviewing the core pillars of partnership between the Government of Ajara and the UNDP, highlighting both completed milestones and active development projects across the region. Both parties underscored the highly successful, decades-long collaboration between Georgia and the United Nations, emphasizing its institutional importance.

 

During the discussions, Chairman Pataradze emphasized that UNDP’s targeted support remains instrumental in driving sustainable and inclusive socioeconomic growth in Ajara. Key focal points of the ongoing partnership include environmental conservation, climate change adaptation, comprehensive disaster risk management, and the institutional strengthening of local governance capabilities. Looking forward, the officials explored avenues to scale up current initiatives and reaffirmed their shared commitment to deepening the strategic alliance.

 

The high-level meeting was also attended by key regional and international officials, including Ednar Nataridze, Minister of Finance and Economy of Ajara; Denis Salukvadze, Minister of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Ajara; and Giorgi Nanobashvili, Head of the Economic Development Division at UNDP Georgia.
