Chairman of the Government of Ajara Attends the Gala Concert ‘Melodies of Gonio’

The Gonio-Apsaros Historical-Architectural Museum-Reserve played host to the grand gala concert Melodies of Gonio. The high-profile event was attended by the Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Ajara, Zurab Pataradze, who was accompanied by his family.

The Chairman emphasized that Melodies of Gonio represents a significant cultural milestone that seamlessly bridges historical heritage with music. He noted that the initiative enriches creative industries while strengthening both cultural tourism and cultural diplomacy. Furthermore, the Chairman highlighted the festival's immense potential to expand onto the international stage and welcome global audiences in the future.

"Our objective is to imbue the historic Gonio-Apsaros Fortress with a renewed functional purpose, transforming it into a vibrant, modern cultural hub for our region," stated Zurab Pataradze.

The evening featured a sophisticated repertoire of celebrated works by prominent Georgian composers and iconic arias from national operas. The concert program was brought to life by the Batumi State Music Center Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, the "Batumi" Vocal Ensemble, and a lineup of acclaimed Georgian soloists.

This new, large-scale project was initiated by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport of Ajara. Organizers drew vital logistical backing from the Government of Ajara, alongside the direct involvement of the Batumi State Music Center and the Cultural Heritage Preservation Agency of Ajara.

The gala drew a distinguished audience, including Tsotne Ananidze, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Ajara; Eliso Bolkvadze, Minister of Education, Culture and Sport of Ajara; Revaz Nadaraia, Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Georgia; members of the Parliament of Georgia and the regional Supreme Council; representatives from the executive and legislative branches; municipal mayors and city council chairs; members of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia; and members of the diplomatic corps.
