Chairman of the Government Meets with Distinguished Scholarship Students
Zurab Pataradze, Chairman of the Government of Ajara, together with his spouse, Sophio Bakuridze, met with distinguished students who have become scholarship recipients of the Government of Ajara.
Maia Khajishvili, Minister of Education and Sports of Ajara, opened the meeting and briefed attendees on the educational programmes implemented by the Ministry and supported by the Government of Ajara.
Zurab Pataradze also addressed the students and congratulated them on their achievements and well-deserved recognition. Tsotne Ananidze, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Ajara, also congratulated the students.
According to the Chairman, support for young people and the expansion of educational programmes will remain among the Government’s priorities in the future. As he noted, organizing thematic meetings and public lectures for young people is important in order to encourage discussions on the country’s development, future vision, and current challenges.
‘We had a very productive meeting with the students. It is important to discuss education, the future, and the opportunities created specifically for young people. Planned reforms at various stages of the educational system are aimed at creating new opportunities for youth.
We also discussed the programmes implemented by the Ministry of Education, including the important scholarship programme supported by the Government of Ajara. I am confident that this support will serve as an additional motivation for students. Exchange and grant programmes will also continue, creating further opportunities for development.
It is especially noteworthy that tomorrow 12th-grade students across the country and our region will graduate from school, and many of them will become university applicants. I believe today’s meeting will encourage them to understand the importance of education, determination, and hard work in achieving success,’ said Zurab Pataradze.
As part of the Ministry of Education programme, distinguished students receive a scholarship of 1,000 GEL per semester. Notably, the number of scholarship recipients will double this year, and a total of 300 students will receive funding.
Members of the Parliament of Georgia, university lecturers, and representatives of the Supreme Council and the Government of Ajara attended the event.
