Batumi Hosts Scientific Conference Marking the 85th Anniversary of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences

The Georgian National Academy of Sciences is marking the 85th anniversary of its establishment. To commemorate the occasion, a scientific conference and an award ceremony honoring distinguished researchers were held in Batumi with the support of the Government of Ajara.

Zurab Pataradze, Chairman of the Government of Ajara, together with Givi Mikanadze, Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, attended the closing ceremony.

Congratulating the members of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences on the anniversary, Zurab Pataradze emphasized the importance of advancing scientific research and promoting national science as a foundation for the country’s sustainable development.

As part of the ceremony, academicians, professors, and researchers were presented with certificates of appreciation in recognition of their contribution to the development of Georgian science. Zurab Pataradze awarded Academicians Vano Papunidze and Liana Melikishvili with certificates of recognition on behalf of the Government of Ajara.

The scientific forum brought together members of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences, academic staff from higher education institutions, representatives of research centers, young scientists, and industry experts.

The conference was organized by Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University within the framework of the Ministry of Education and Sports of Ajara’s program and supported by the Government of Ajara.

Maia Khajishvili, Minister of Education and Sports of Ajara; Zviad Gabisonia, Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia; Tite Aroshidze, Rector of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University; and Jaba Samushia, Rector of Tbilisi State University, also attended the event.
