An Evening Dedicated to the Memory of Guram Tamazashvili Held in Kobuleti

A concert dedicated to the memory of Guram Tamazashvili was held in Kobuleti. Zurab Pataradze, Chairman of the Government of Ajara, attended the event together with his spouse.

Tsotne Ananidze, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Ajara, government officials, family members and friends of Guram Tamazashvili, as well as representatives of the cultural community, also attended the concert.

Zurab Pataradze noted that Guram Tamazashvili was one of the distinguished figures of Georgian music whose unique performance style left a lasting mark on Georgian polyphonic singing.

‘The tradition of holding this concert year after year demonstrates that the memory of Guram Tamazashvili lives on. His artistic legacy and personal qualities were truly remarkable. Through his unique voice, the entire country came to know Kobuleti and Ajara.

His love for people, his friendship, and his warmth made him a special individual. We all remember the songs performed by the Georgian Voices ensemble, and Guram Tamazashvili played a significant role in that success. His name and work remain precious to all of us.

Today, he would have turned 73. His family, friends, and admirers have gathered in Kobuleti and Batumi to celebrate his life and honor his memory. It is especially meaningful that many of his closest friends have also come from Tbilisi to pay tribute to him once again,’ said Zurab Pataradze.

The traditional evening of Georgian songs dedicated to Guram Tamazashvili has been organized by Kobuleti City Hall for many years.

Ensembles, solo performers, friends, and family members of Guram Tamazashvili participated in the concert.

The event was dedicated to the 73rd anniversary of Guram Tamazashvili’s birth, and featured performances of well-known Georgian songs from his repertoire. The evening once again highlighted his outstanding contribution to Georgian musical culture.
